Truro Sings!

  • Marigold Cultural Centre 605 Prince Street Truro, NS, B2N 1G2 Canada (map)

Inspired by the popular “Big Sing” in Halifax, the Colchester East Hants Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association has partnered with the Marigold Center and the Colchester Community Credit Union to bring “Truro SINGS” to the local area.

“The therapeutic value of song; of joining in song with other people, cannot be underestimated.  It’s wonderful for your mental health which is why we wanted to bring this to our community”, explained Susan Henderson, Executive Director for the local branch.  “We know that many people in our community are isolated and feel alone. Everyone is welcome, and for this reason we are offering passes for those who could benefit from this and asking for a monetary donation from those who can afford to pay.  All of the proceeds will go to renovating our new building, located at the former Bargain Shoppe site.”

Phil L. Black has generously agreed to lead the evening as the Truro Sings Choir Director and has great experience in leading developing and established choirs.

The first event will be held on Tuesday, September 12th from 7:30 to 8:30 pm with the doors of the Marigold Center opening at 7:00 pm.  Talent is not required – the only requirement is that you like to sing.  The song selected for the first event is “Lean On Me”.

Passes will be offered to individuals who have financial limitations and will be available at the CMHA CEH office located at 574 Prince Street in Truro.  Passes can be picked up between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on September 11th ONLY.  For more information follow us on Facebook at CMHA:  Colchester East Hants
