Shoulder Season formed in 2018 when four women came together in a Dartmouth, Nova Scotia basement to explore new friendships and musical directions. Drawing on their individual experiences in local music scenes from Ottawa to St. John’s, and a mix of influences from indie rock and punk to poppier inclinations, Shoulder Season’s catchy synth-driven songs pull from the experiences of women with a sense of social justice and a critical eye on the systems that create the world we live in.
Their live shows are fast and sweaty, propelled by driving drums and bass, punctuated by guitar feedback and solos, and warmed by catchy hooks and interplaying vocal harmonies. Veterans of several local music scenes, Shoulder Season features current and former members of: Penny and the Pits, Safeword, Smaller Hearts, The Johnnies, Bad Vibrations, Texas Chainsaw, The Maynards, Moonsocket and more.
Beached Out is a Peterborough, Ontario–based indie rock songwriting duo whose fuzzed-out, ’90s-leaning sound blends surf-tinged melodies with introspective lyrics. Rooted in a long-running creative partnership, their music explores nostalgia, relationships, and growth through shared vocals and tightly crafted songs. Formed in Northern Ontario and shaped by years of DIY releases, Beached Out creates music grounded in lived experience and emotional honesty. They have shared stages with artists including Destroyer, Preoccupations, and Yukon Blonde. Their new full-length album, Average Weekends, is out March 20th on Noyes Records.
Liz Robinson emerges from the mire as swamp prince, accompanied by local rockers Luke Mumford, Justin Crowe, and Adam LeDrew. Making sentimental frog pop predicated on being earnest, angry, and the assertion that rockin’ out can be whatever you want it to be.
