In Loving Memory of Charlotte MacQuarrie

It is with great sadness that we learned this week of the passing of one of Truro’s greatest community leaders. Charlotte MacQuarrie was a founding member of the Cobequid Arts Council, a vital part of establishing the Marigold Cultural Centre, and the 2016 recipient of our Lifetime Achievement Award. And Charlotte was so much more: a key advocate for the arts, a champion of community involvement, and an avid musician in her own right. A teacher and organizer, Truro would not be the hub of music, art, and culture without her involvement, support, and passion. Books could be written on her outstanding contributions to our community. And we know we wouldn’t have the privilege of our beloved cultural centre without her work to establish the Marigold where we continue her legacy of live performance, art, and education.

From our volunteers to our staff to our board of directors, we send our deepest condolences to Charlotte’s family. We are not only grateful for the privilege, but proud of the honour to carry on her legacy by advocating for the arts, investing in education, and continuing to ensure that music thrives in Truro, Nova Scotia.

For the years of work, for the hours of passion, and for the moments together, thank you Charlotte MacQuarrie.
